| Chances are you've got a love hate relationship with your alarm clock. Because let's be honest, being abruptly stirred from your slumber by a shrill, insentient lump of circuitry is simply not natural. Besides, in most cases, alarm clocks are there to remind us that it's time to wakey wakey, rise and shine. Bleurgh! The only reason we use them when we're not working is to remind us that we've got to get up and do something really important - like move the car before it gets a ticket or watch SpongeBob Squarepants before the Saturday morning hangover really kicks in.
All of which is why we're slightly cautious when it comes to selling alarm clocks. For us, they have to possess something very special to elevate them above their status of annoying but necessary everyday accessories. Thankfully the mesmerizing Aurora Color Changing Clock is more than a mere alarm clock; it's an inspired, chameleon-like block of spellbinding design genius.
Why? Well, this über-funky clock is encased in gorgeously tactile translucent rubber that quietly changes color on the hour, every hour. The ethereal glow that emanates from the Aurora is truly hypnotizing and we guarantee you'll be lying there with baited breath waiting for the next color change to gently bathe your bedside table in a glorious new shade of whatever (a highly relaxing experience in itself). This smart cube of mood lighting can be set to cycle through its 12 color variations by glowing one color per hour, or through a preset lighting sequence. The choice is yours. A gentle tap is all it takes to turn the light show on.
![]() The Aurora's bold, backlit LCD screen means you won't be squinting to tell the time at 3 AM, and you shouldn't even be unduly irritated by its alarm, as the soporific effect of its enchanting glow will ensure you always get a good night's sleep. Nighty night!

Bought this for my hubby about 2 years ago and it is the most amazing thing I've ever bought. The light not too bright, just bright enough to slink into bed after getting caught by Family Guy on the tv in the small hours of the morning. However, the colours are amazingly vivid. We learnt them fairly quickly and now I know what hour it is by the colour, I don't need to see the display! I've had the change the 2 cell (circular) batteries for the clock once so far. Buy one now if you like colour changing anything! You won't regret it!
Had to buy the Aurora Clock cos I came back to Uni and left my other alarm clock at home! It's pretty cool, as a previous reviewer says, you do have to look at the clock head to read the display, but it's easy enough to pick it up and look at it. Other than that it's perfect, the alarm is just about right volume and pitch for those early starts. The light is bright enough to allow you to find your drink/put your book safely down whilst in bed, but isn't so bright that it dazzles you in the middle of the night.
The different coloured lights are quite cool, and being a student, after a heavy night out, I remember getting in and finding the clock glowing orange, so know I musta got in between 4 and 5am - pretty useful!!!
The Aurora Colour Changing Clock is a very cute clock in my eyes. It does nothing special in the sense it tells the time, date and so on. Plus has a beeping alarm but in terms of how it looks it is amazing. The colour changes every hour if left on constantly or you can choose for it only to light up when pressed. I personally have mine on all the time.
It would make an excellent night light for a child and a stunning bedroom talking point for adults.
I am very impressed by it. The colours are bright but not too bright and the display is large enough to be able to see when you wake in the night and look at it without you having to concentrate too much.
This clock is very cool. I have it on my shelf next to my bed. Very relaxing, the 8 o'clock colour is very cool, a kind of light turquoise :D I bought the 'touch' model, which, contrary to my belief, has a little socket in the back which allows you to plug in a mains adapter, so I can have it on all the time without wearing out my batteries. Great!
This clock is so cool, good size, good looking and at night it's give just the right light. Thank you firebox, great clock....
Hey, I know this seems like a dumb question, but what is the difference between the touch and the night light? is it that the touch one only lights up when u touch it? It doesn't actually say anywhere and the nightlight one wont be back till oct!! :(.
Really bright and colourful. Really pleased with it.
I bought the clock last week and I thought it was going to be a big thing. It's quite good and really funky. People think its weird! COOL!
Not a bad little clock - my only gripe is the viewing angle...if you dont look at it pretty much head on the LCD is faint - and as stated the colours represent a certain hour - so you will probably only see some of them - unless you want to stay up 12 hours and watch it ?!
As usual great service from Firebox ++.
I bought this nifty little clock for myself but when I got it, plugged it in and saw how cool and soft the lighting effects were I decided to put it in my Baby son's Bedroom in place of the night light. Now when he wakes in the night I can see him without putting the main light on, also I can see what silly time in the morning it is. Excellent clock /light.
